(Dayton, OH) -- Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley is running to be the Democratic Party's nominee for Governor.

Whaley confirmed on Monday that she would be seeking the state's highest office and officially launched her campaign to challenge current Governor Mike DeWine. In her release, Whaley said the people of Ohio deserve a change after 30-years of the same politicians who have caused the state to fall further behind.

The 45-year-old Whaley moved to Ohio from Indiana to attend the University of Dayton, was elected Mayor in 2014 and declined to run for a third term this past January.
