Doctors Ask Non-Emergency Patients To Avoid Hospital ERs As COVID-19 Surges

(Columbus, OH) -- Central Ohio Health Care Systems are asking non-critical patients to avoid using the ER during the latest surge in COVID-19.

OhioHealth Infectious Disease Expert Dr. Joseph Gastaldo said yesterday that non-COVID-19 patients not experiencing chest pains, trouble breathing, or a life-threatening condition should first try an urgent care or their primary doctor.

Gastaldo also said the ER is not a place to receive a COVID-19 test unless you show symptoms. In the past 72-hours, hospitals across Ohio have admitted 560 people with COVID-19.
